Hi there,
I am so happy you have found Coco Mayab! I can't wait to tell you all about it.
My name is Yesenia and I am a wife, momma, Registered Nurse, and an enthusiast for traveling, hosting events, DIY-ing, eating yummy food, and so much more!
Coco Mayab was born during the covid pandemic but I had always wanted to embark on a journey that would allow me to share and document all my personal experiences with people.
With my hubby working remotely, I remember coming home one day after a super busy ER shift (this was truly an exhausting experience - huge shout out to all those health care workers who battled and continue to battle covid-19!) and he said “why don't you listen to your family and friends and start sharing the things you enjoy the most with other people”? All my girlfriends and cousins have always asked me to help them plan their baby showers, helping them with their travel itineraries, food and cocktail recipes, and my previous DIY projects. I didn't think much of it because I never saw myself as a “blogger” but I did see myself establishing some kind of project.
Shortly after, I had some time off work for our destination wedding that was supposed to take place but got canceled because of COVID. I was so over covid, tired of being overworked, and sad to say, I was feeling discouraged about my wedding plans.
As the pandemic lockdown began, we started spending so much more time together as a family and our home became our happy place. We found ourselves in the kitchen an insane amount of time throughout the day which we truly enjoyed.
With our favorite sushi spot being closed because of the pandemic, we had no choice but to make our own. But how? We had never done this before?!?! This exact moment is when the idea of Coco Mayab was born and we decided to launch our own sushi kit.
The one significant thing that has come out of the pandemic are the beautiful memories, moments, and delicious sushi we have created that will be cherished and treasured. I really hope you like what I share.
